Wood NZ is Paul Ewen's one-man workshop creating handmade timber furniture from locally sourced macrocarpa, swamp kauri, and totara. Every piece—including freeform mirrors, stools, and coffee tables—is milled and finished by hand, with no two identical.
Each item is built without nails or screws, then finished with Californian orange oil and sealed with teak wax. Timber sources include macrocarpa from dairy shelter belts at Puhi Puhi (some over two metres through), swamp kauri recovered from near Dargaville, and totara from a Puhi Puhi dairy farm.
Based in Waipu, viewing is by appointment only. Wood NZ ships nationwide and worldwide, and custom pieces are welcome.
